Dental Hygienist

Dental Hygienist ClareOur hygienists, Clare, and Julia, are vital members of Brixham Practice's dental team. Their role is fundamental in maintaining good oral health.

Recent research has indicated that significant health benefits can result from maintaining good standards of dental hygiene; gum disease is a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke and certain forms of cancer, so maintaining good oral hygiene could help reduce the risk.

As well as removing any hard deposits that have built up on your teeth, our hygienist will help to keep plaque and tartar to a minimum.

Our hygiene appointments include:
• Recording plaque levels, measuring pocket depths and assessing how well you are maintaining your oral hygiene
• The removal of plaque and tartar that has built up on the teeth and below the gum level
• Making recommendations to your daily home care routine and offering any advice needed
• Assessing when your recall visit is needed - usually patients visit the hygienist every six months, however if plaque and tartar builds up quickly in your mouth, the hygienist may recommend you visit every three months
